sexuality now: moving beyond heteronormativity?

Registration starts at 9:45.

This full-day event is an opportunity to explore the new book in the Tavistock Clinic Series, “Sexuality and Gender Now: Moving Beyond Heteronormativity”.The book is a collection of papers by European and American clinicians which sets out to demonstrate what it means for psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis to develop an approach that takes for granted an acceptance of diversity.

Moving beyond the traditional psychoanalytic position on sexual development, which has viewed heterosexuality as the developmental norm from which other forms of sexual expression are judged, the speakers will use psychoanalytic and Jungian ideas to reflect on the experience of those individuals who have not been able to find their desires reflected in the heterosexuality encoded in the social, cultural, religious and economic institutions of our society.
