brevity forum: jeri onitskansky introduces tony hoagland’s poetry

bpf members and trainees from all associations are warmly welcome to attend January’s annual ‘Brevity Forum’. Facilitated by BJAA analyst Jeri Onitskansky, we will explore one or two poems by the remarkable American poet Tony Hoagland who sadly died last year.

The idea behind the ‘Brevity Forum’ is to generate an enquiry/discussion into a poem, quotation, dream, clinical vignette, film clip or musical fragment – in short, anything brief. The aim is to open out and explore the material in a free associative manner while keeping closely within its orbit much in the way that Jung envisaged elaboration upon an image or symbol. Those who have participated in this ‘forum’ in previous years have usually found the experience stimulating and evocative, not unlike being part of a Social Dreaming Matrix.
