‘Without Borders’ - A series of IPCAPA seminars
Starting in January 2021
‘Without Borders’ is a bi-monthly forum/a series of seminars for bpf & IPCAPA members. Papers discussing clinical, technical and theoretical psychoanalytic issues from all around the world will be explored and discussed. It will be an attempt to open up and maintain discussions for both qualified and trainee members, informed by culturally diverse and clinically relevant issues that have developed in other parts of the world, to our practice as child and adolescent psychotherapists.
British psychoanalytic theory and practice is rooted in specific ways of thinking. Though psychoanalytic thinking has expanded and developed in other parts in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa, US and Canada. The main aim of the seminars is to think and familiarise ourselves with psychoanalytic ideas from other parts of the current culturally pluralistic world.
Drawing upon other’s psychotherapists work from all over the world and explore different techniques and ideas, could help us to develop our clinical practice further. In each seminar there will be a summary from a paper, which will be circulated 2 weeks in advance of the seminar, presented at the beginning, followed by a 20-minutes discussion from the group. Then clinically relevant material will be presented and discussed in relation to the main paper, exploring the main ideas and their relevance to our current clinical practice.
The first 3 seminars will be already planned and thought setting the scene for this forum. We would be more than happy to hear from you if you wish presenting a paper and/or clinical material which is relevant to the presented paper.
Please note: In the current climate with Covid-19 restrictions, seminars will take place online every two months on a Friday at 5:30pm until 6:45pm.
