bpf open day, 22nd May


The open day will provide an opportunity for anyone interested in psychoanalytic ideas to explore training and other educational opportunities as well as discuss them with practicing psychotherapies and current bpf trainees.

On the day you will be able to:

  • Learn about psychotherapy as a career, what training as a psychotherapist involves, and how knowledge of psychotherapy may help in other careers;
  • Find out more about the bpf, one of the largest independent providers of training and treatment;
  • Find out more about the range of courses, trainings and events the bpf offers, including professional trainings: Jungian Analysis, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Modified Entry to Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with Anna Freud Centre/University College London, National Training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy with Exeter University and MSc Psychodynamics of Human Development, a pre-clinical course run jointly with Birkbeck College, University of London;
  • Find out more about a wide range of Introductory & Pre-Training Courses and CPD Courses for Counsellors & Psychotherapists.


Open Day Schedule:

Session 1 - Intro courses and infant observation


We will cover:

  • An overview of our introductory course, Psychotherapy Today
  • Short courses e.g reading groups and discussion groups
  • Infant Observation course outline and practicalities.
  • Q & A session after each presentation, there will be course leaders and advisors present. An opportunity to hear from current trainees and their experiences


Session 2 - Academic and bpf collaborative courses


We will cover:

  • Exeter University MSc in Psychological Therapies Practice and Research Degree, National Clinical Training in collaboration with the bpf .
  • MSc in Psychodynamics of Human Development, a two year post graduate course run collaboratively with Birkbeck University.
  • Doctorate Child and Adolescent therapy in collaborations with Anna Freud Centre and UCL.
  • Followed by Q & A session with advisors present


Session 3 - bpf adult clinical training


We will cover:

  • An overview of the adult clinical psychotherapy training programmes on offer at bpf
  • Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy (PPA) and Jungian Analytic ( BJAA)
  • An opportunity to hear from current trainees and ask them questions
  • General Q & A, and break out rooms for more focused questions
