about the speaker

Janine Sternberg is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, currently Head of Training for the Independent Psychoanalytic Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy Association training at the British Psychotherapy Foundation (bpf). She is a member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists and an adult trained psychoanalytic psychotherapist with the bpf.

Until a few years ago she had been employed for over 10 years as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Portman Clinic, Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation NHS Trust. Previously she had worked at the Tavistock Mulberry Bush Day Unit and before that in a local Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service.

She is the author of a book on the contribution of infant observation to the training of child psychotherapists, the co-editor of a book on infant observation as a research methodology, as well as author of numerous articles. She is involved in many aspects of the child psychotherapy profession and is currently a member of the ACP’s Employment Standards Group and the Ethical Practice Group.
