Description

Welcome to the third of the IPCAPA Masterclass Supervision series 2025-26. This series offers a live online space for IPCAPA child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapists to present their clinical work to a senior child psychotherapy clinician, in the presence of a professional audience. It is an opportunity to observe an Independent approach in practice, and to be part of a clinical discussion around the material presented.

We are delighted that Dr. Robert Fleming, is going to be in the supervisor’s chair for this event. Dr Robert Fleming is originally from Scotland and moved to London to train as a Social Worker in the 1970s. This experience led to a deep clinical interest in all aspects of substitute care for children (fostering, kinship care and adoption). After working in a Child Guidance Centre in USA, he returned to the UK and trained as a Child Psychotherapist at the Tavistock in the 1980s. He later trained as an Adult Psychotherapist at the BPF.

Robert was a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist in South London and Maudsley NHS Trust for 28 years before retiring and setting up a private practice working with children, adolescent and adults in South London.

He teaches regularly at IPCAPA and supervises many clinicians at various stages of their professional development. Robert is an associate editor of the Journal of Child Psychotherapy.

The presenter for this event will be announced shortly.

The event will allow time for thoughts and questions from the audience and we look forward to seeing you.

Ferelyth Watt – Chair IPCAPA on behalf of the IPCAPA Executive Cttee
