Description

Bio:

Helen Hardware is the founder of Compliance Made Easy, where she helps therapists, counsellors, coaches and holistic practitioners feel confident about GDPR without the stress, legal jargon or overwhelm.

As both an experienced compliance professional and a clinical hypnotherapist, Helen understands the unique balance therapists hold every day: creating a safe, trusting space for clients while managing deeply personal and often sensitive information. She knows that most therapists genuinely want to do the right thing, they just don't always know what ‘right’ looks like when it comes to data protection.

With more than 20 years' experience in legal, regulatory compliance and data protection, Helen specialises in translating complex GDPR requirements into practical, straightforward steps that fit naturally into the way therapists already work. Her approach is warm, down-to-earth and reassuring, helping practitioners protect their clients, build trust and gain confidence in their practice without feeling buried in paperwork.

Event Description

Every therapist holds personal information about their clients. Whether it's contact details, session notes, health information or emails, it's all covered by GDPR.

Most therapists want to handle that information properly, but GDPR can feel confusing. There are endless checklists online, conflicting advice on social media, and it's often difficult to know what actually applies to your own practice.

There's another reason why now a good time is to revisit your GDPR. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 is introducing changes to the UK's data protection framework, making this an ideal opportunity to review your current practices, understand what has changed, and make sure you're still meeting your obligations.

In this practical, jargon-free session, we’ll explore what GDPR really means for therapists, what the new legislation means in practice, and the simple steps that make the biggest difference.

By the end of the session you'll:

  • Understand how GDPR applies to your business
  • Know what the Data (Use and Access) Act changes mean for you
  • Feel more confident about handling sensitive client information
  • Know which areas deserve your attention and which myths you can safely ignore
  • Leave with practical actions you can implement immediately

The aim isn't to turn you into a GDPR expert. It's to help you feel confident that you're doing the right things, so you can get back to focusing on the work you love; helping others.
