Editor-in-ChiefBritish Journal of Psychotherapy

We are excited to be seeking a New Editor-in-Chief to build on the journal’s strong foundations and to continue developing British Journal of Psychotherapy as a core community resource. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and inclusive editorial team dedicated to upholding high standards and embracing innovative practices. There is an annual honorarium for the role.

The pace of change in academic publishing is accelerating, and to respond, the Editor-in-Chief will need to work effectively with the Publisher, Editorial Board in an efficient way as well as with the bpf’s CEO and Director of Academic and Strategic Development. A flexible and collaborative approach will therefore be essential for the successful applicant.

Chair of the Ethics and Professional Standards Committee (EPSC) 

Closing Date: December 14t, 2025

We are seeking a committed and collaborative individual to serve as Chair of the Ethics and Professional Standards Committee (EPSC). This is a voluntary role, offering the opportunity to lead a key committee, shape policy, and support colleagues across the bpf.

About the Role

The Chair of the Ethics and Professional Standards Committee (EPSC) leads the promotion of ethical practice and professional standards within the organisation. This role involves chairing three to four meetings per year, setting agendas, and overseeing committee activities. The Chair works closely with the committee members and liaises with safeguarding and clinical services leads. Responsibilities also include preparing an annual report for the AGM, attending termly BPC Ethics meetings, ensuring the confidential logging and management of ethical enquiries, inviting external experts to contribute to committee discussions, and ensuring the committee remains current with developments in ethics and professional standards. The role is supported by the EPSC administrator and other bpf staff members as appropriate.

This role is open to all bpf members, including newly qualified members as long as they have relevant experience.

You will get support for relevant professional development such as books and conferences. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. This is a three-year term with the option for re-election.

bpf Trustees


We are currently seeking members to become trustees. The ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to the bpf’s mission and values.

Essential criteria

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate some aspects of the following:

  • understanding of the role of a Board of Trustees.
  • ability to challenge rigorously and debate constructively.
  • strong communication and inter-personal skills.
  • genuine interest in the work of the British Psychotherapy Foundation.
  • knowledge of safeguarding practices as determined by the Safeguarding Adult Board and Charity Commission experience.

We particularly welcome applications from women, disabled and Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic [BAME] candidates.

The successful candidates must abide by The Nolan principles – The seven principles of public life (See Annex A)

Time commitment and term of office

Meetings are held quarterly with members attending brief pre and post-meeting private discussions.

Trustees may be contacted between meetings via email or telephone, on a limited basis and only as strictly necessary.

Meetings are scheduled one year in advance and dates will only change in exceptional circumstances. Attendance is recorded and published as part of the annual reporting cycle.

Meetings primarily take place online via teams.

The initial term of office is three years, subject to performance. Members are not employees of the British Psychotherapy Foundation. The British Psychotherapy Foundation has discretion to renew the appointment at the end of the first term of office, subject to consistently good performance. There should therefore be no assumption of automatic reappointment.

Psychodynamic Training Clinical Seminar Leaders

Closing Date: Ongoing

Hours of work: 11.00am – 12.30pm and 2.15pm – 3.45pm on Fridays during the academic year.

Location: bpf House, 37 Mapesbury Road, NW2 4HJ. 

Salary: £100 for each 1.5 hour group (to include marking and assessment).

Qualifications:

  • Must be a qualified psychodynamic or psychoanalytic/Jungian analytic psychotherapist registered with BPC, UKCP or other registration body relevant to dynamic or analytic training.

Experience:

  • To have experience of conducting clinical seminars with small groups of 8-10 people.

Responsibilities:

  • To work with the course seminar tutor in following the weekly set curriculum themes.
  • To deliver one weekly clinical seminar of 1.5 hours in each term which is related to the trainees’ clinical work
  • To facilitate a small group of trainees to present their clinical work over the course of each term (two trainees per seminar)
  • To lead a group discussion on the clinical work presented
  • To support with marking and assessment of coursework
